An interesting detail: the switch lantern in the foreground for the junction onto the siding was of Swiss design, while the switch lantern for changing lanes a good hundred meters further back is of Italian design.

Take a good look at the scenery at Angeren, where on 24 October 2024 BLS 475 419 with diverted CargoBeamer intermodal train is passing. Within two years, the entire rustic scenery might be vanished completely with the extension of the A15 motorway.

The BLS RABe 528 105  MIKA  rented by RegionAlps arrived as R91 6116 from Brig (from 11:03) in St-Gingolph (at 13:06) and is now waiting for the return journey. With France behind us (approx. 500 meters from the border), the view here is towards the Vaud Alps to the east.

The car tunnel trains on the AT1 route (and AT2 in high season) to Kandersteg (or Iselle) can be found photographically in a very awkward place in the Kandersteg train station and are therefore difficult to photograph. However, the route to the tunnel offers good opportunities to photograph the last BLS Re 4/4 in use. I still stayed at Kandersteg train station and was able to photograph the BLS Re 4/4 185 with its car tunnel train in the station. The train is waiting for the BLS RABe 521 to depart as R1 from Domodossola to Bern, in order to then travel as a service train towards Frutigen. January 3, 2024

An SBB Domino leaves the Gänsbrunnen station and continues towards Moutier. Gänsbrunnen is located in the  Tahl  and can only be reached by train from the Mittelland in a very short time as the road connection requires a fairly large detour. For this reason, the Weissenstein Tunnel is now also being renovated. so that rail operations can continue to be offered on these routes in the future.

The Solothurn - Moutier route belonged to the SMB, which in turn formed a joint venture with EBT and VHB and later the RM 
 and was subsequently taken over by the BLS.
