Ex-ACTS/HUSA, now EETC 1254 'Ir.J. HOEKWATER'(but with ACTS-shield on the loco's nose!) readies herself to pull the Autoslaaptrein 13412 to Koper out of 's Hertogenbosch on 4 July 2014. Ir.John HOekwater was one of the two founding members of ACTS, who managed to salvage five NS-decommissioned locos of Class 1200. Although ACTS, the first private freight operator on Dutch rails since NS came into being (1938), exists no longer, it has given the Dutch railway scenery much variation and even more joy. Mr. Hoekwater sadly passed away in 2012, but in the Dutch railway fraternity he will always be remembered as the hero, who saved the very iconic Class 1200 from scrap and/or oblivion, giving them a revenue earning service life extension, that already has passed a quarter of a century.
