V 240 001 stands at Dresden-Altstadt on 8 April 2017. The V 240 was a DR prototype for a 2,400 HP strong, 140 km/h fast Diesel locomotive, based on the DR Class V 180 (later DBAG 228, Dicke Babelsbergerin), build in 1965. Although the locomotive did everything she should do, no series production was commenced due to the Soviet-Union, that banned all production of Diesel locomotives stronger than 2,000 HP outside the USSR. Today, the loco is part of the collection of the Dresden Verkehrsmuseum.
