The only NS Class 2200/2300 to carry the NS Cargo red was 2384, seen here on 7 August 1999 at Terneuzen.

NS 2202 banks a Lovers Rail train out of Amsterdam CS on 22 September 1996. The attempt by Lovers Rail to take on NS Reizigers was short lived due to bad planning and the fact, that Lovers took on NS on her Kernnet (Core Network) with four daily trains, where NSR has a nuch better offer with at least two fast trains and two stopping trains per hour per direction. Lsater on however, the concept of concessions brought real competition on the passengers' rails.

Ex-NS, now VSM 2233 banks one of the each 45 minutes operating shuttle trains between Beekbergen and Loenen out of Loenen during the annual Terug-naar-Toen train bonanza. Diesel passenger trains in the netherlands have almostalways been operated by DMUs; Diesel loco haulage being very rare; onlyin the proximity of Winterswijk and Zevenaar a few peak hour trains were loco hauled. The passenger stock on this train is the hauled versionof Mat'24 Blokkendoos and VSM each year does a very fine job inrecreating the few Diesel loco hauled trains fromthe past -in combination with German Einheitsdampfloks or GDR ReKos.

It is Saturday 5 September 2026 and the first saturday of September and that means the VSM train bonanza Terug naar Toen (Back to Yonder) that sees every hour a steam train between the VSM's head quartes Beekbergen and Apeldoorn (connecting to the national railways network); five steam trains to Dieren (connecting with the national railways network) and every 45 minutes a steam train to and from Loenen. NS Class 2200 were deliverd all in this brown livery for freight locomotives and deployment on passenger services within NS have been rare.
