An ICN RABe 500 in the direction of Biel/Bienne is on its way near Ligerz. The remaining single-track route near Ligerz is to give way to a double-track in the tunnel, although the beautiful view of Lake Biel will then be lost. The commissioning of the new route was recently postponed to 2029.

How times change: a few years ago I would have turned up my nose and not photographed the ICN passing through Airolo, today I am happy that I can photograph an ICN between all the "Giruno" trains: The SBB RABe 500 006 " Johanna Spyri" as IC 2 10865 on the way from Zurich HB to Lugano passes the highlight of its journey in Airolo and is now heading through the Leventina towards its destination drive. Although ICN RABDe 500 multiple units from the Jura foot line arrive in Lausanne every hour, these are practically never seen on the subsequent Simplon line; There was an exception at the beginning of August 2022, when an ICN took over the power of an IR 90 and was (surprisingly) photographed here in Vevey. On the right in the picture is the SBB RABe 511 102 leaving for St-Maurice. August 4, 2022 
