More than one ripple went through the railway fan fraternity when the tidings came, that Strukton bought her first electric locomotive in the form of former NS Reizigers 1824. On 11 October 2019 the sensation was seen at Nijmegen claiming that trains are friendly for the environment and that 1824 would be  Carbondioxide Neutral Underway .

This engine is of Swiss design and was ordered by NS after the Second World war to rebuild the very depleted locomotive parc. SBB just had sidelined a massive bunch of C- tank engines due to their electrification programme and Nederlandsche Spoorwegen bought some of these locos fo9r local passenger and freight services.

How to clear a big rail show? Try a decent down pour, like here on 2 October 1999 during a railway show at Hengelo with MBS-6 HELGA hauling a steam shuttle. Uptill this moment, the weather was glorious and the area full of people. A less-than-two-minuts rain shower was sufficient to sweep the area clean of all people -excluding your photographer...

Side view on RFO 692 at Oss on 2 March 2021. After her spell with the NS, she was bought by a group of preservationists, that sadly concluded that they could no longer affort 692. But RailForceOne, that in 2020 took over shunting duties in Oss, was lucky to buy the loco from the preservationists, who were lucky to not having to sell the shunter for scrap. Many a photographer considers himself lucky from 2020 with catching this Dutch shunter in British livery.
