On 19 September 2021 SBB Historic 11411 shunts herself toward the sidings while an extra train leaves Erstfeld under the pouring rain.

Class BLS 425 are now rapidly disappearing and most freights do cross the Gotthard Pass under Erstfeld via the NEAT instead of through Erstfeld.

Since the Gotthard Highway Tunnel, which opened in 1981, needs to be renovated, they have the luxury of building a second tube during the renovation. After the renovation, both tubes will offer more safety by separating traffic directions, but will only be allowed to have one lane per tube. It will be interesting to see whether this will be adhered to... The excavated material will be transported to Flüelen by train. The Railpool 186 497 has arrived in Airolo with its block freight train consisting of Sggrrs S 204 double wagons. The wagons are then maneuvered under the loading device (left in the picture) and loaded. January 21, 2025 
