A very special occasion at Geldermalsen took place on 23 April 2003. SSN decided to send a passenger train (with 23 023 heading) and a photo freight into the Betuwe via a single track line to give the many passengers a ride near the Betuweroute freight artery which was then build. Sadly, the SSN planners did not take into account that that very day, ebngineering works on Tiel--Elst made any ride on the single line impossible. So the trains were cut short at Geldermalsen and to give the passengers (and coincidentally viewers like your photographer) yet a good day, both trains were given a photo session at Geldermalsen.
