There was a big and well-organized surprise in Chamby this morning: The picture shows the ASD BCFe 4/4 N° 1, built in 1913 and converted in 1940, on the journey from Blonay to Chaulin and the two MOB BCFe 4/4 N° 11 (built in 109) and DZe 6/6 2002 (built in 1932) both today at the Blonay-Chamby Bahn in a fine vehicle parade.

Train drivers and travelers enjoy the journey over the Gotthard Railway  Panorama  route on their journey to the south. The two SBB Giruno RABe 501 008  Monte Ceneri  and 006  Kt. Obwalden  were traveling from Zurich to Milano as EC 10315 when I was able to photograph the long train in Faido. A written confirmation from the locomotive driver is available, and a big thank you to Silvio for the information about the Giruno vehicle numbers.

I juli 2016 hittade jag en fotoplats norr om Faido, precis ovanför Broscerina-tunneln med utsikt över den 103 meter långa Polmengo-bron. När jag besökte fotoplatsen igen i år gick jag ett steg längre, närmare bestämt till ett övergivet  vaktarhus  precis före den övre portalen till den 1567 meter långa Pratotunneln, som som en 360° cirkulärtunnel övervinner en höjdskillnad på drygt 40 meter. Bilden visar IC 10667 som reser från Basel SBB till Lugano och kommer att nå Prato cirkulärtunnel strax bakom min rygg. Jag kunde fotografera de två SBB Giruno RABe 501 igen drygt två minuter senare på Polmengo-bron (se bild-ID 50365). Det är just sådana upplevelser som gör Gotthardbanan så attraktiv.

Resurrection in Glory: after three decades, the Dutch have an active ex-DB Class 41 steam loco. The 41 241 was in the posession of Dampflok-Tradition Oberhausen. Due to lack of room, the Oberhauseners decided to store 41 241 at the SSN in Rotterdam Noord Goederen. The SSN however, has no line of her own and a constant feature of her history is the Sword of Damocles in the guise of expansion plans for domestic environments, forcing the SSN to relocate a few times lock, stock and barrel. In 2015 VSM bought 41 241 from the Germans and started to restore her directly in operational condition. With succes: shortly before the September festival Terug naar Toen the loco had concluded test rides. On 3 September 2023 the new star hauls a photo freight into Loenen.

VSM 64 415 calls at Dieren with the 20+ late first steam shuttle train for the steam bonanza Terug naar Toen on 3 September 2023. A much more massive engine was planned for this haul, but she decided to have no urge to do something and the Bubikopf 64 415 had to deputise at last moment's  notice.
