Another transit of an SBB Giruno: the SBB RABe 501 009 "Zürich" is EC 10312 on the way from Milano to Zurich HB.

Shortly before Erstfeld, most trains heading south leave the route of the old Gotthard railway and travel through the Gotthard bass tunnel.

How good the MGB still has cars in which the windows can be opened! Otherwise I would not have been able to photograph the MGB Ge 4/4 81 with its car tunnel train upon arrival in Realp.

Of course, I also photographed the RABe 501 "Giruno", which has since become dominant on the Gotthard axis; No matter how dominant they may be, they are not an everyday occurrence on the "Gotthard Panorama Route": As a result of planned maintenance work in the Gotthard Base Tunnel, most IC/EC will run from Monday to Friday from January 13th to January 24th, 2025 via Göschenen - Airolo . After the sun disappeared behind the mountains in Airolo at midday, things turned out well in Göschenen from midday onwards. The picture was taken near the Göschenen entrance signal and shows the two SBB RABe 501 016 "Glarus" at the front and 501 008 "Monte Ceneri" at the end as IC 21 10671 on the journey from Basel SBB to Lugano.
