Led by an E 414 at the front and at the end, the FS Trenitalia IC 631 from Ventimiglia to Milano near Borgio Verezzi will soon reach its next stop, Finale Ligure. The section from Finale Ligure to Andora is currently the last section of the Genova - Ventimiglia route, which still follows the original route along the sea and through the towns and is intended to be re-routed in the longer term.

When one of the most beautiful sections of the Genova - Ventimiglia route near Cervia was replaced by a tunnel variant a few years ago, numerous photographers arrived in advance.
The Genova - Savona route opened in 1868. The Savona Ventimiglia continuation, which went into operation in 1972, led through difficult topography in many places and was largely routed along the sea and through the towns.
The route was initially electrified with three-phase current, later planned as V 25,000/50 Hz, and then finally in 1964/1967 it was supplied with FS DC 3000.
But by this time the single-track route along the sea was no longer sufficient to cope with the increasing traffic, so the first new routes were built in the Genova area at the end of the 1960s. In 1977, the Varazzo - Finale Ligure section was the first longer new construction section. Over time, others followed further west, but in Finale Ligure the first new section now meets the last original section. This is also the motif of the pictures from Finalie Ligure, here the FS Trenitalia IC 631 leaves the single-lane, 1136 meter long  Galleria Caprazoppa .

But the joy didn't last long, the opening of the Gotthard Bassis Tunnel was imminent and the journey was too long for me for a  measly  TILO Flirt that only runs every hour. But with the unfortunate derailment of a few freight cars a few kilometers from here, but deep under the mountain, traffic on the  Panorama  route begins to pick up again for a few weeks and I drove to Faido: In the picture is a SBB  Giruno  RABe 501 on the way to Lugano.

At first glance, Faido train station appears as it did before the GTB went into operation, but upon closer inspection (and it is hardly visible in the photo) tracks 1 and 4 are no longer in use, the switches are screwed and the contact line is grounded.

The TPF RABe 560 269-3 (94 85 7 560 269-3 CH-SBB) traveling from Bulle to Broc Fabrique as Regio Express RE 4046. The route has hardly changed due to the gauge change, but a kind of  guardrail  separates the standard gauge route from the parallel road.

Since the MOB GDe 4/4 are no longer used in scheduled passenger train services, pictures of these locomotives are no longer so easy to obtain. I was all the more pleased when she discovered the GDe 4/4 6002 in Rossinière with a short freight train. The locomotive pushed the cars and was heading towards Montreux.

The train can be operated with diesel engines or electrically with 3000 volts direct current and has a Bo' 2'2'2' Bo' axle arrangement. From Torino to Ivrea he uses the catenary, from Ivrea it is diesel.

The ASD BCFe 4/4 N° 1 is a special attraction  TransOrmonan  of the TPC with its B 35 as a guest vehicle.

Train drivers and travelers enjoy the journey over the Gotthard Railway  Panorama  route on their journey to the south. The two SBB Giruno RABe 501 008  Monte Ceneri  and 006  Kt. Obwalden  were traveling from Zurich to Milano as EC 10315 when I was able to photograph the long train in Faido. A written confirmation from the locomotive driver is available, and a big thank you to Silvio for the information about the Giruno vehicle numbers.
